Fields and Saved Audiences

The Fields & Audiences panel is the starting point for audience inputs. Use it to find customer traits, event fields, order metrics, prediction fields, campaign fields, and saved audiences that can be used in the builder.

Open or collapse the catalog

On desktop, the catalog appears on the left side of the builder. If it is collapsed, select Fields & Audiences to reopen it. Collapsing the catalog gives more space to the rule builder and preview areas.

On smaller screens, use Browse fields to open the field drawer.

Fields tab

Use the Fields tab when you need a source field for a rule.

Field groups are organized by source or entity. The observed builder includes source choices such as:

  • Customer.
  • Orders.
  • Predictions.
  • Purchase.
  • Events.
  • Campaign.

Each field may show metadata that helps you decide whether it is appropriate:

MetadataMeaningUser decision
TypeData format such as string, number, money, date, or booleanChoose operators and values that match the format
PIIIndicates personally identifiable information when availableReview privacy and activation rules before using or exporting
Time awareField requires a time windowSet a relevant lookback or date range
ReturnableField can appear in returned preview or export dataUse returnable fields for preview attributes

Search fields

Use Search fields when you know part of the field name. Search is useful when a source has many fields.

Good search terms include:

  • email for contact identifiers.
  • city or country for location rules.
  • purchase for order or purchase behavior.
  • event for behavioral rules.
  • score, risk, or likelihood for prediction fields.

Field type filters

Use the field type filter row to narrow the catalog before selecting a field. The filter should match the type of rule you plan to create.

Filter intentionExample use
Customer traitsLifecycle stage, country, email, mobile, active days
Behavioral eventsEvent type, event name, page URL, device type
Order fieldsPurchase count, amount, revenue, last purchase details
Prediction fieldsChurn risk, conversion likelihood, LTV band
Campaign fieldsSource, medium, campaign, ad group, creative

Select a field

Select a field to add it to the current builder context. After selection, confirm the rule uses the correct entity, attribute, operator, value, and time window.

Audiences tab

Use the Audiences tab when you want to start from an existing saved audience or inspect available reusable audiences.

The saved audience list supports:

  • Searching by audience name.
  • Selecting an audience.
  • Creating a new audience.
  • Deleting a saved audience from the list.
warning

Deleting a saved audience removes it from the saved audience list. Review downstream campaign or activation dependencies before deleting an audience used by other teams.

Create New Audience

Select Create New Audience when you need a blank builder state. Use a new audience when the current rule logic should not overwrite an existing saved definition.

QA checklist

  • The selected field comes from the correct source.
  • The field type matches the operator and value.
  • Time-aware fields include an appropriate time window.
  • PII fields are necessary for the use case and allowed by policy.
  • Saved audiences are reused only when their definition matches the current business question.
  • Deleted audiences are not required by active campaigns or workflows.
